Water-cooled screw chiller controller · BACnet points list

Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

RTWD chillers with Symbio 800 publish about 685 BACnet objects; roughly three-quarters are diagnostic binary inputs. Operating data such as water temperatures, refrigerant pressures, compressor starts and run hours are AIs. Setpoints, lockouts, pump requests and the auto/stop command are AV/BV/MV objects.

This page lists 685 BACnet objects for the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD — 20 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Trane’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD

Integration in brief

Put the chiller on the network (BACnet MS/TP or IP), then write the auto/stop command, chilled water setpoint, demand limit and mode. Read back running state, leaving water temperature and capacity. Check the local-setpoint flag to confirm the BAS setpoints are actually in use. Most remaining objects are read-only status and per-alarm diagnostic flags.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

Enable & remote start

BV 10100 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (0 = Stop, 1 = Auto) is the BMS auto/stop. BI 10120 External Auto Stop reports the hardwired external auto/stop input. The documents don't say how the two combine or how to hand setpoint control to the BAS; BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control shows when the chiller is using local setpoints instead of BAS setpoints.

Type: AI, AO, AV, BI, BO, BV, MI/MO/MV (multi-state) · Access: Read read-only, Write writable, Command writable with a priority array.

Note: the source document has no read/write column, so access here is inferred from the object type (inputs read-only, values writable). Confirm on the live controller before writing.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Symbio 800 Series R RTWD and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD

How many BACnet points does the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD have?

This list has 685 BACnet objects: 144 analog inputs, 7 analog values, 515 binary inputs, 12 binary values, 6 multi-state inputs, 1 multi-state value. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD BACnet points are writable?

20 of the 685 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done. The source has no read/write column, so this is inferred from object type.

Where is the official Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD BACnet documentation?

The source is Symbio 800 Integration Points List BACnet - Series R Model RTWD (BAS-PTS017A-EN), revision 11/15/2024, published free by Trane at https://elibrary.tranetechnologies.com/public/commercial-hvac/Literature/Points%20List/BAS-PTS017A-EN_11152024.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD?

Start with BV 10100 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (BMS auto/stop (enable) command); MV 10100 Chiller Mode Command BAS (Cool/heat/ice/free-cooling mode command); AV 10100 Chilled Water Setpoint (Chilled water setpoint from the BMS); AV 10101 Demand Limit Setpoint (Capacity (demand) limit from the BMS); BI 10103 Chiller Running State (Chiller on/off status); BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control (Shows if local setpoints override BAS setpoints); AI 10103 Evaporator Leaving Water Temperature (Leaving chilled water temperature); AI 10108 Actual Running Capacity (Actual running capacity in percent); BI 10108 Diagnostic Present (Any active diagnostic (alarm) on the chiller).

How do I enable BMS control of the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTWD?

BV 10100 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (0 = Stop, 1 = Auto) is the BMS auto/stop. BI 10120 External Auto Stop reports the hardwired external auto/stop input. The documents don't say how the two combine or how to hand setpoint control to the BAS; BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control shows when the chiller is using local setpoints instead of BAS setpoints.

How do I check these points on the real Symbio 800 Series R RTWD?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
