Air-cooled screw chiller controller · BACnet points list

Trane Symbio 800 RTAC BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

RTAC chillers with Symbio 800 publish about 400 BACnet objects, each also mapped to a Modbus register in the same table. Compressor starts, run time, oil pressure and circuit data are AIs; the BAS writes chilled water setpoint, demand limit, mode, circuit lockouts and auto/stop.

This page lists 406 BACnet objects for the Trane Symbio 800 RTAC — 8 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Trane’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Trane Symbio 800 RTAC

Integration in brief

Put the chiller on the network (BACnet MS/TP or IP), then write the auto/stop command, chilled water setpoint, demand limit and mode. Read back running state, leaving water temperature and capacity. Check the local-setpoint flag to confirm the BAS setpoints are actually in use. Most remaining objects are read-only status and per-alarm diagnostic flags.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

Enable & remote start

BV 10101 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (0 = Stop, 1 = Auto) is the BMS auto/stop. BI 10121 External Auto Stop Input Status reports the hardwired external auto/stop input, and BI 10100 Run Enabled shows whether the chiller is enabled to run. The documents don't say how the two combine or how to hand setpoint control to the BAS; BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control shows when the chiller is using local setpoints instead of BAS setpoints.

Heartbeat & communication loss

No timeout or heartbeat is described. The list includes BI 11253 'Comm Loss: Local BAS Interface', a diagnostic flag; the documents don't say what the chiller does when it is set.

Type: AI, AO, AV, BI, BO, BV, MI/MO/MV (multi-state) · Access: Read read-only, Write writable, Command writable with a priority array.

Note: the source document has no read/write column, so access here is inferred from the object type (inputs read-only, values writable). Confirm on the live controller before writing.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Symbio 800 RTAC and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Trane Symbio 800 RTAC

How many BACnet points does the Trane Symbio 800 RTAC have?

This list has 406 BACnet objects: 118 analog inputs, 2 analog values, 278 binary inputs, 5 binary values, 2 multi-state inputs, 1 multi-state value. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Trane Symbio 800 RTAC BACnet points are writable?

8 of the 406 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done. The source has no read/write column, so this is inferred from object type.

Where is the official Trane Symbio 800 RTAC BACnet documentation?

The source is Symbio 800 Integration Points List BACnet/Modbus - RTAC (BAS-PTS023A-EN), revision 11/8/2024, published free by Trane at https://elibrary.tranetechnologies.com/public/commercial-hvac/Literature/Points%20List/BAS-PTS023A-EN_11082024.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Trane Symbio 800 RTAC?

Start with BV 10101 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (BMS auto/stop (enable) command); MV 10100 Chiller Mode Command BAS (Cool/heat/ice/free-cooling mode command); AV 10100 Chilled Water Setpoint (Chilled water setpoint from the BMS); AV 10101 Demand Limit Setpoint (Capacity (demand) limit from the BMS); BI 10103 Chiller Running State (Chiller on/off status); BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control (Shows if local setpoints override BAS setpoints); AI 10123 Evaporator Leaving Water Temperature (Leaving chilled water temperature); AI 10102 Actual Running Capacity (Actual running capacity in percent); BI 10113 Diagnostic Present (Any active diagnostic (alarm) on the chiller).

How do I enable BMS control of the Trane Symbio 800 RTAC?

BV 10101 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (0 = Stop, 1 = Auto) is the BMS auto/stop. BI 10121 External Auto Stop Input Status reports the hardwired external auto/stop input, and BI 10100 Run Enabled shows whether the chiller is enabled to run. The documents don't say how the two combine or how to hand setpoint control to the BAS; BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control shows when the chiller is using local setpoints instead of BAS setpoints.

Does the Trane Symbio 800 RTAC need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?

No timeout or heartbeat is described. The list includes BI 11253 'Comm Loss: Local BAS Interface', a diagnostic flag; the documents don't say what the chiller does when it is set.

How do I check these points on the real Symbio 800 RTAC?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
