Water-cooled screw chiller controller · BACnet points list

Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

RTHD chillers with Symbio 800 publish about 275 BACnet objects; about 165 are diagnostic binary inputs. Water temperatures, flows, refrigerant and oil pressures, starter or drive currents and energy meter values are AIs. The BAS writes chilled and hot water setpoints, demand limit, base loading, mode, pump requests and auto/stop.

This page lists 275 BACnet objects for the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD — 12 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Trane’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD

Integration in brief

Put the chiller on the network (BACnet MS/TP or IP), then write the auto/stop command, chilled water setpoint, demand limit and mode. Read back running state, leaving water temperature and capacity. Check the local-setpoint flag to confirm the BAS setpoints are actually in use. Most remaining objects are read-only status and per-alarm diagnostic flags.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

Enable & remote start

BV 10100 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (0 = Stop, 1 = Auto) is the BMS auto/stop; with it at Auto the chiller runs when its own run conditions are met. BI 10122 External Auto Stop Input Status reports the hardwired external auto/stop input, and BI 10100 Run Enabled shows whether the chiller is enabled to run. The documents don't say how the two combine or how to hand setpoint control to the BAS; BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control shows when the chiller is using local setpoints instead of BAS setpoints.

Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD BACnet objects

Type: AI, AO, AV, BI, BO, BV, MI/MO/MV (multi-state) · Access: Read read-only, Write writable, Command writable with a priority array.

Note: the source document has no read/write column, so access here is inferred from the object type (inputs read-only, values writable). Confirm on the live controller before writing.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Symbio 800 Series R RTHD and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD

How many BACnet points does the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD have?

This list has 275 BACnet objects: 69 analog inputs, 5 analog values, 188 binary inputs, 6 binary values, 6 multi-state inputs, 1 multi-state value. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD BACnet points are writable?

12 of the 275 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done. The source has no read/write column, so this is inferred from object type.

Where is the official Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD BACnet documentation?

The source is Symbio 800 Integration Points List BACnet - Series R Model RTHD (BAS-PTS015A-EN), revision 11/15/2024, published free by Trane at https://elibrary.tranetechnologies.com/public/commercial-hvac/Literature/Points%20List/BAS-PTS015A-EN_11152024.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD?

Start with BV 10100 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (BMS auto/stop (enable) command); MV 10100 Chiller Mode Command BAS (Cool/heat/ice/free-cooling mode command); AV 10100 Chilled Water Setpoint (Chilled water setpoint from the BMS); AV 10101 Demand Limit Setpoint (Capacity (demand) limit from the BMS); BI 10103 Chiller Running State (Chiller on/off status); BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control (Shows if local setpoints override BAS setpoints); AI 10104 Evaporator Leaving Water Temperature (Leaving chilled water temperature); AI 10108 Actual Running Capacity (Actual running capacity in percent); BI 10106 Diagnostic Present (Any active diagnostic (alarm) on the chiller).

How do I enable BMS control of the Trane Symbio 800 Series R RTHD?

BV 10100 Chiller Auto Stop Command BAS (0 = Stop, 1 = Auto) is the BMS auto/stop; with it at Auto the chiller runs when its own run conditions are met. BI 10122 External Auto Stop Input Status reports the hardwired external auto/stop input, and BI 10100 Run Enabled shows whether the chiller is enabled to run. The documents don't say how the two combine or how to hand setpoint control to the BAS; BI 10101 Local Setpoint Control shows when the chiller is using local setpoints instead of BAS setpoints.

How do I check these points on the real Symbio 800 Series R RTHD?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
