Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

On the 30XA with Touch Pilot controls, BACnet MS/TP comes from Carrier's BACnet/Modbus translator, which maps a fixed set of CCN points to BACnet objects AV_000 onward, BV_000 onward and two time schedules. The list is short (72 objects): control type, start/stop and occupancy commands, setpoints, capacity, current, demand limit and per-circuit refrigerant temperatures and pressures.

This page lists 72 BACnet objects for the Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) — 19 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Carrier’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator)

Integration in brief

Put the chiller in Network (CCN) control from the Start/Stop machine-mode selection with the Enable/Off/Remote switch closed, then command BV 0 start/stop and BV 1 occupancy through the translator. Read control type, capacity, leaving/entering fluid temperatures, and write setpoints AV 50 onward and demand limit AV 10.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

ObjectNameWhyAccess
BV 0CHIL_S_SNetwork start/stop commandWrite
BV 1CHIL_OCCNetwork occupied commandWrite
BV 3EMSTOPEmergency stopWrite

AV 0CTRL_TYPControl type: Local, Network or RemoteRead
AV 4CAP_TPercent total capacityRead
AV 12COOL_LWTCooler leaving fluid temperatureRead
AV 11COOL_EWTCooler entering fluid temperatureRead

Enable & remote start

Select Network under Select Machine Mode (Start/Stop button). The control type reads CCN when the Enable/Off/Remote contact input is closed; the network then drives CHIL_S_S. For dual-chiller setups the slave must use CCN control.

Heartbeat & communication loss

The manual says that on loss of communication with the network, the machine starts and is controlled locally.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator)

How many BACnet points does the Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) have?

This list has 72 BACnet objects: 60 analog values, 10 binary values, 2 schedules. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) BACnet points are writable?

19 of the 72 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.

Where is the official Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) BACnet documentation?

The source is AquaForce 30XA140-352 Air-Cooled Liquid Chillers - Controls, Start-Up, Operation, Service and Troubleshooting (Appendix D, BACnet/Modbus Translator Points) (30XA-100T), revision 2015-04, published free by Carrier at https://www.shareddocs.com/hvac/docs/1005/Public/0C/30XA-100T.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator)?

Start with BV 0 CHIL_S_S (Network start/stop command); BV 1 CHIL_OCC (Network occupied command); BV 3 EMSTOP (Emergency stop); AV 50 csp1 (Cooling setpoint 1); AV 10 DEM_LIM (Active demand limit (writable)); AV 0 CTRL_TYP (Control type: Local, Network or Remote); AV 4 CAP_T (Percent total capacity); AV 12 COOL_LWT (Cooler leaving fluid temperature); AV 11 COOL_EWT (Cooler entering fluid temperature).

How do I enable BMS control of the Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator)?

Select Network under Select Machine Mode (Start/Stop button). The control type reads CCN when the Enable/Off/Remote contact input is closed; the network then drives CHIL_S_S. For dual-chiller setups the slave must use CCN control.

Does the Carrier AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator) need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?

The manual says that on loss of communication with the network, the machine starts and is controlled locally.

How do I check these points on the real AquaForce 30XA 140-352 (BACnet/Modbus Translator)?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
