BMS integration notes: WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer
Keep BV 502 at External and command occupancy on MSV 500; the UPC holds the occupied, unoccupied and standby setpoints (AV 511-516) and runs the economizer itself. Read MSV 100 for the operating mode and AV 119 for the combined alarm code. BV 110-115 let the BAS send Y1, Y2, W, O, G and DH calls directly.
Minimum points to map
The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.
| Object | Name | Why | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| MV 500 | occ_man_msv_c | Occupied/unoccupied/temp occ/standby command | Write |
| BV 502 | schedule_select_c | Must be External for BAS occupancy commands | Write |
| BV 101 | em_shutdown_c | Network emergency shutdown | Write |
| AV 511 | occ_clg_setpt_c | Occupied cooling setpoint | Write |
| AV 512 | occ_htg_setpt_c | Occupied heating setpoint | Write |
| BV 130 | alarm_reset_c | Reset manual-reset alarms (On, then back to Off) | Write |
| AV 500 | zone_temp | Space temperature (sensor or BAS override) | Read |
| MV 100 | mode_msv | Current operating mode | Read |
| AV 119 | alarm_enum | Combined alarm code (see alarm table) | Read |
Enable & remote start
BV 502 schedule_select_c picks the internal schedule (Mon-Fri 7:30-17:00 EST) or external BAS commands; External is the listed default. Occupancy commands go to MSV 500, or to AV 509 after BV 504 is set to AV; BV 506 is a separate binary BAS occupancy signal. BV 101 em_shutdown_c shuts the unit down and BV 105 load_shed_c sheds the compressors.
Sensors & values from the BMS
AV 502 zone_temp_ovrd_c replaces the zone sensor once BV 500 is set to BAS. Outdoor air temperature and humidity, and return air temperature and humidity, can come from the BAS on AV 606, 609, 614 and 617 when BV 609, 611, 613 and 615 are set to BAS. AV 602 (pressure) or AV 603 (elevation), chosen by BV 608, feed the enthalpy calculation. AV 504, 506 and 508 accept humidity, CO2 and VOC values.
Network setup
- Port 1a is the BAS port: EIA-485 for BACnet MS/TP (or N2), set by DIP switches, with baud 9600, 19.2k, 38.4k or 76.8k. It ships set to BACnet at 38,400 baud. (From AG1568EW, written for the single-compressor UPC.)
- Port 1a can instead be jumpered for ARC156 (BACnet over ARCNET at 156 kbps). A LonWorks plug-in card uses port 1b and disables port 1a.
- The MAC address is set on two rotary switches (tens and ones), 1 from the factory and 99 at most. The UPC only reads a new address after a power cycle.
- The device instance is built from the network number and the MAC: network 7000 with MAC 12 gives 7012.
- Wiring: 22 or 24 AWG shielded twisted pair, daisy-chained, polarity-sensitive (Net+, Net-, shield). About 30 devices and 2,000 ft per trunk; every MAC on a trunk must be unique.
Watch out for
- BV 600 econ_on_c only matters when the economizer runs in slave mode (MSV 600 = 6).
- Dip switch overrides only pass to the ABC while the dip switch override enable (BV 318 / BV 327) is on; record the physical switch settings first.
- Alarm reset: command BV 130 On, then back to Off.
- In the source, hp_hdw points are described as the LP input and lp_hdw points as the HP input; verify on site.
- The alarm table lists the AV codes only; the MSV lockout point is marked 'do not map'.

Integration notes
- PL1250EW holds two separate tables, single and dual compressor; this file is the dual compressor table.
- Object names are the sheet's reference names.
- Many points are marked 'do not map' in the source and are listed only for completeness.
- Alarm codes come from the alarm table printed for the dual-compressor rooftop; mode numbers from the dual column of the mode table.
- Transport and network settings come from the Aurora UPC Application and Troubleshooting Guide (AG1568EW), which is written for the single-compressor water-to-air UPC.
Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. Questions about the WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer
How many BACnet points does the WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer have?
This list has 392 BACnet objects: 213 analog values, 170 binary values, 9 multi-state values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.
Which WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer BACnet points are writable?
171 of the 392 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.
Where is the official WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer BACnet documentation?
The source is UPC BACnet Points List For Single/Dual Compressor Rooftop Economizer (PL1250EW), revision 2018-09, published free by WaterFurnace at https://www.waterfurnace.com/literature/aurora/PL1250EW.pdf.
What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer?
Start with MV 500 occ_man_msv_c (Occupied/unoccupied/temp occ/standby command); BV 502 schedule_select_c (Must be External for BAS occupancy commands); BV 101 em_shutdown_c (Network emergency shutdown); AV 511 occ_clg_setpt_c (Occupied cooling setpoint); AV 512 occ_htg_setpt_c (Occupied heating setpoint); BV 130 alarm_reset_c (Reset manual-reset alarms (On, then back to Off)); AV 500 zone_temp (Space temperature (sensor or BAS override)); MV 100 mode_msv (Current operating mode); AV 119 alarm_enum (Combined alarm code (see alarm table)).
How do I enable BMS control of the WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer?
BV 502 schedule_select_c picks the internal schedule (Mon-Fri 7:30-17:00 EST) or external BAS commands; External is the listed default. Occupancy commands go to MSV 500, or to AV 509 after BV 504 is set to AV; BV 506 is a separate binary BAS occupancy signal. BV 101 em_shutdown_c shuts the unit down and BV 105 load_shed_c sheds the compressors.
Can the BMS supply sensor values to the WaterFurnace Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer?
AV 502 zone_temp_ovrd_c replaces the zone sensor once BV 500 is set to BAS. Outdoor air temperature and humidity, and return air temperature and humidity, can come from the BAS on AV 606, 609, 614 and 617 when BV 609, 611, 613 and 615 are set to BAS. AV 602 (pressure) or AV 603 (elevation), chosen by BV 608, feed the enthalpy calculation. AV 504, 506 and 508 accept humidity, CO2 and VOC values.
How do I check these points on the real Aurora UPC, Dual Compressor Rooftop Unit with Economizer?
Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
