Air-cooled variable-speed screw chiller (via SC-EQ card) · BACnet points list
York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) BACnet points list
Updated 28 October 2026
YORK by Johnson Controls YVAA Style B chillers connect to a BAS through the SC-EQ communication card on BACnet MS/TP (or Modbus RTU / N2). The BAS can start/stop the chiller and write the cooling setpoint, current limit and sound limit. Read-only points cover chilled liquid and ambient temperatures, per-system pressures, temperatures, % FLA, power and alarms, VSD values, and multistate operational, fault and warning codes per system.
This page lists 102 BACnet objects for the York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) — 5 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from York’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ)
Put the chiller in remote control (BV 20 reads Remote), then start/stop it with BV 1 and write the cooling setpoint (AV 1) and current limit (AV 2). Read BV 5 for chiller run, leaving chilled liquid temperature and VSD frequency, and BV 15/BV 16 for system alarms; the per-system fault codes give the cause.
Minimum points to map
The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.
| Object | Name | Why | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| BV 1 | REM START STOP CMD | Remote start/stop (1 = run) | Command |
| AV 1 | REMOTE COOLING SETP | Remote leaving chilled liquid setpoint | Command |
| AV 2 | REM CURRENT LIMIT SETP | Remote current limit, % | Command |
| BV 20 | LOCAL REMOTE CONTROL MODE | Must read Remote (1) for BMS control | Read |
| BV 5 | CHILLER RUN | Chiller running | Read |
| AV 5 | LEAVING CHILLED LIQ TEMP | Leaving chilled liquid temperature | Read |
| AV 27 | VSD OUTPUT FREQUENCY | Compressor VSD frequency (load indication) | Read |
| BV 15 | SYS 1 ALARM | System 1 alarm active | Read |
| BV 16 | SYS 2 ALARM | System 2 alarm active | Read |
Enable & remote start
BV 20 shows Local or Remote control mode. The points list gives no point to change it and no write-enable point.
Heartbeat & communication loss
The operational code list includes 'Loss of External Communications'; the sheet gives no timeout or heartbeat point.
Network setup
- The BAS connects to the SC-EQ J12 port (RS-485: +, -, COM/REF, SHLD). The card detects BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU or N2 and the baud rate by itself; allow up to 120 seconds after power-up.
- The MAC address (1-127) is set on DIP switch SW1 (switch 8 unused). Cycle the card's power after changing it.
- The device instance defaults to 5000 + the MAC address (MAC 6 gives 5006). To use another number, set Device Instance Mode to Manual and enter the instance with the SC-AP / MAP tool, or write BV 65000 (mode) and AV 65000 (instance ID).
- MV 65001 Units sets whether the BAS sees IP or SI values, independent of the chiller display; set it to match the chiller.
Watch out for
- The remote (commandable) setpoints read as unreliable until the BAS writes them the first time.
- The SC-EQ only exposes the points that apply to the chiller it detects; if it replaces an E-Link, re-discover the device so old non-applicable points don't sit offline.
- Fault/inhibit codes are per refrigerant system (MV 2, MV 4); there is no single unit fault code, so alarm on BV 15 and BV 16.

Type: AI, AO, AV, BI, BO, BV, MI/MO/MV (multi-state) · Access: Read read-only, Write writable, Command writable with a priority array.
Note: the source document has no read/write column, so access here is inferred from the object type (inputs read-only, values writable). Confirm on the live controller before writing.

Integration notes
- Access is inferred: the sheet has no read/write column. The remote block (AV 1-3, BV 1) is treated as commandable and MV 65001 as writable; everything else as read-only.
- AV 37 and AV 42 mean subcooling on microchannel condensers and evaporator level on round-tube condensers; they are merged into one row each.
- Operational, fault and warning code MVs (MV 1-4, MV 15-16) use the Status Codes tables + 1, as the sheet says to add 1 for BACnet MSV values; the AV copies use the raw code.
- Multistate states with their own enum in the points table (Units, system state) are shown as printed, from 0. BACnet multistate values start at 1, so the device may report the printed number + 1; confirm by discovery (read the state text).
- Units shown are the IP units; with MV 65001 set to SI the card reports °C, bar and so on.
- The sheet also lists a Total Run Hours value (sum of both systems) with no BACnet object; it is left out.
Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.
Questions about the York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ)
How many BACnet points does the York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) have?
This list has 102 BACnet objects: 66 analog values, 27 binary values, 9 multi-state values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.
Which York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) BACnet points are writable?
5 of the 102 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done. The source has no read/write column, so this is inferred from object type.
Where is the official York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) BACnet documentation?
The source is YVAA Style B SC-EQ BAS Points List, revision Rev 1.8, 2023-03-20, published free by York at https://docs.johnsoncontrols.com/chillers/api/khub/documents/Cxf1tNmYudSglP~8DcXK7g/content.
What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ)?
Start with BV 1 REM START STOP CMD (Remote start/stop (1 = run)); AV 1 REMOTE COOLING SETP (Remote leaving chilled liquid setpoint); AV 2 REM CURRENT LIMIT SETP (Remote current limit, %); BV 20 LOCAL REMOTE CONTROL MODE (Must read Remote (1) for BMS control); BV 5 CHILLER RUN (Chiller running); AV 5 LEAVING CHILLED LIQ TEMP (Leaving chilled liquid temperature); AV 27 VSD OUTPUT FREQUENCY (Compressor VSD frequency (load indication)); BV 15 SYS 1 ALARM (System 1 alarm active); BV 16 SYS 2 ALARM (System 2 alarm active).
How do I enable BMS control of the York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ)?
BV 20 shows Local or Remote control mode. The points list gives no point to change it and no write-enable point.
Does the York YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ) need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?
The operational code list includes 'Loss of External Communications'; the sheet gives no timeout or heartbeat point.
How do I check these points on the real YVAA Style B Chiller (SC-EQ)?
Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
