York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points list
Updated 28 October 2026
YORK by Johnson Controls YCAV and YCIV chillers with the 031-03478 microboard have BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU and N2 built in, so no gateway is needed. The BAS writes a remote setpoint, current limit, sound limit and start/stop (AV 1-3, BV 1). Everything else is read-only analog and binary inputs: chilled liquid and ambient temperatures, per-system pressures, temperatures, % FLA, hours, starts, flash tank values, operational and fault codes, and alarms.
This page lists 112 BACnet objects for the York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) — 4 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from York’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP)
Put the chiller in remote control (BI 14 reads Remote), then start/stop it with BV 1 and write the remote setpoint (AV 1) and current limit (AV 2). Read each system's state, the leaving chilled liquid temperature and VSD frequency, and the two alarm inputs.
Minimum points to map
The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.
| Object | Name | Why | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| BV 1 | START_STOP | Remote start/stop (1 = run) | Write |
| AV 1 | REM_SETP | Remote leaving chilled liquid setpoint | Write |
| AV 2 | DMD_LIMIT | Remote current limit, % FLA | Write |
| BI 14 | LOCAL_REMOTE | Must read Remote (1) for BMS control | Read |
| AI 86 | S1_SYS_STATE | System 1 state (stopped, running, faulted) | Read |
| AI 1 | LCHLT | Leaving chilled liquid temperature | Read |
| AI 45 | VSD_OUT_FR | Compressor VSD frequency (load indication) | Read |
| BI 1 | S13_ALARM | Systems 1/3 alarm | Read |
| BI 2 | S24_ALARM | Systems 2/4 alarm | Read |
Enable & remote start
BI 14 shows Local or Remote control mode. The sheet gives no point to change it and no write-enable point.
Heartbeat & communication loss
Operational code 67 is 'Loss Of External Communications'; the sheet gives no timeout or heartbeat point.
Network setup
- BACnet MS/TP, Modbus RTU and N2 are native on the 031-03478 board; a gateway is only needed for Connected Services.
- The sheet gives no default MAC address, baud rate or device instance.
Watch out for
- Most data are AI/BI objects, not AV/BV; only the four write points are values.
- Fault and operational codes are per system (AI 50-57); there is no single unit fault code, so alarm on BI 1 and BI 2.

Integration notes
- Access follows the sheet's sections: analog and binary write points (AV 1-3, BV 1) and read-only points (AI, BI).
- Points for systems 3 and 4 only report on units with that many systems; values that don't apply are sent as zero.
- Operational and fault codes are numeric AIs; the states list the code values from the sheet's code table.
- Spare objects (AV 4, BV 2-3) are left out. Units shown are imperial; SI units are in the sheet (pressures in bar).
Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.
Questions about the York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP)
How many BACnet points does the York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) have?
This list has 112 BACnet objects: 93 analog inputs, 3 analog values, 15 binary inputs, 1 binary value. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.
Which York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points are writable?
4 of the 112 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.
Where is the official York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) BACnet documentation?
The source is YCAV YCIV Modbus, BACnet MS/TP, N2 Data Map (YCAV_IV Native), revision 2017-02-17, published free by York at https://docs.johnsoncontrols.com/chillers/api/khub/documents/DsvsbvlZNgkCrndB1NvZpg/content.
What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP)?
Start with BV 1 START_STOP (Remote start/stop (1 = run)); AV 1 REM_SETP (Remote leaving chilled liquid setpoint); AV 2 DMD_LIMIT (Remote current limit, % FLA); BI 14 LOCAL_REMOTE (Must read Remote (1) for BMS control); AI 86 S1_SYS_STATE (System 1 state (stopped, running, faulted)); AI 1 LCHLT (Leaving chilled liquid temperature); AI 45 VSD_OUT_FR (Compressor VSD frequency (load indication)); BI 1 S13_ALARM (Systems 1/3 alarm); BI 2 S24_ALARM (Systems 2/4 alarm).
How do I enable BMS control of the York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP)?
BI 14 shows Local or Remote control mode. The sheet gives no point to change it and no write-enable point.
Does the York YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP) need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?
Operational code 67 is 'Loss Of External Communications'; the sheet gives no timeout or heartbeat point.
How do I check these points on the real YCAV / YCIV Air-Cooled Screw Chiller (native BACnet MS/TP)?
Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
