Belimo Energy Valve V4 BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

The Energy Valve V4 is a pressure-independent characterized control valve with an ultrasonic flow sensor and two temperature sensors, so it reports flow, delta T, power and heating/cooling energy. It speaks BACnet MS/TP and BACnet IP (including foreign-device registration). The setpoint on AO 1 means position, flow, power or differential pressure depending on the control mode in MV 100, and the engineering units of most analog objects follow selectable unit objects.

This page lists 68 BACnet objects for the Belimo Energy Valve V4 — 27 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Belimo’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Belimo Energy Valve V4

Integration in brief

Set MV 122 SpSource to Bus, choose the control mode in MV 100 and the flow and power limits, then command AO 1 SpRel from the BMS. Read flow, temperatures, delta T, power and energy for monitoring, and watch MV 99 SummaryStatus and AV 140 ErrorState for faults. If you enable a bus fail action, the BMS must keep rewriting the setpoint inside the watchdog time.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

AO 1SpRelSetpoint: position, flow, power or dp per control modeCommand

Enable & remote start

Write MV 122 SpSource = 2 (Bus) so the valve follows AO 1 SpRel instead of the 0-10 V signal on wire 3. MV 1 Override can force open, close, min, max, nominal or motor stop.

Heartbeat & communication loss

AV 130 BusWatchdog sets a timeout of 5-3600 s (default 120 s). If no write arrives within that time, the valve runs the action in MV 130 BusFailAction (default None; options Open, Close, Max, Min, Stop) and sets the bus watchdog bit in AV 140. With a fail action set, the BMS must keep rewriting the setpoint.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Energy Valve V4 and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Belimo Energy Valve V4

How many BACnet points does the Belimo Energy Valve V4 have?

This list has 68 BACnet objects: 6 analog inputs, 1 analog output, 29 analog values, 1 binary input, 1 binary value, 25 multi-state values, 5 positive integer values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Belimo Energy Valve V4 BACnet points are writable?

27 of the 68 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.

Where is the official Belimo Energy Valve V4 BACnet documentation?

The source is BACnet Interface Description, Energy Valve DN 15...50 (Version 4), revision 2024-09 / V4.2.0, published free by Belimo at https://www.belimo.com/mam/general-documents/system_integration/BACnet/belimo_BACnet_Interface-description_Energy-Valve_V4_2_en-gb.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Belimo Energy Valve V4?

Start with AO 1 SpRel (Setpoint: position, flow, power or dp per control mode); MV 122 SpSource (Must be Bus for AO 1 to take effect); AV 19 AbsFlow_UnitSel (Measured flow); AV 22 DeltaT_UnitSel (Coil delta T); AV 46 HeatingPower_UnitSel (Heating power delivered; units set by MV 124); AV 45 CoolingPower_UnitSel (Cooling power delivered; units set by MV 124); AV 47 CoolingEnergy_UnitSel (Cooling energy meter); AV 48 HeatingEnergy_UnitSel (Heating energy meter); MV 99 SummaryStatus (Overall OK / warning / not OK); AV 140 ErrorState (Bit-coded fault and warning flags).

How do I enable BMS control of the Belimo Energy Valve V4?

Write MV 122 SpSource = 2 (Bus) so the valve follows AO 1 SpRel instead of the 0-10 V signal on wire 3. MV 1 Override can force open, close, min, max, nominal or motor stop.

Does the Belimo Energy Valve V4 need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?

AV 130 BusWatchdog sets a timeout of 5-3600 s (default 120 s). If no write arrives within that time, the valve runs the action in MV 130 BusFailAction (default None; options Open, Close, Max, Min, Stop) and sets the bus watchdog bit in AV 140. With a fail action set, the BMS must keep rewriting the setpoint.

How do I check these points on the real Energy Valve V4?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
