AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

The AERCO ProtoNode RER profile for four Modulex boilers with BCM controllers and one ACS or BMS II serves 54 analog values on BACnet IP or BACnet MS/TP. Each Modulex has modulation, setpoint, temperature, status and error values plus a writable requested outlet temperature and direct-drive modulation; the ACS/BMS II adds plant header values and a writable network header setpoint.

This page lists 54 BACnet objects for the AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) — 9 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from AERCO’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER)

Integration in brief

Set S0 and S1 On (S2, S3, A1 Off) for the BACnet profile with 4 Modulex and 1 ACS/BMS II, set each BCM's address DIP switches to 1-4 and the ACS/BMS II to Modbus address 128. Plant setpoint goes to AV 33 on the ACS/BMS II; each Modulex also has a writable requested outlet temperature and a direct-drive modulation value.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

Enable & remote start

No start/stop object. The ACS/BMS II takes the plant setpoint from AV 33 when Header Set Mode = Remote Setpt and Remote Signal = Network. Each Modulex has writable 03-Req Outlet Temp and 04-Net Direct Drive values; the manual lists the BCM setup as the same as monitor-only.

Heartbeat & communication loss

The BAS must write the setpoint at least three times within the ACS/BMS II Network Timeout (default 30 s, 5-240 s).

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER)

How many BACnet points does the AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) have?

This list has 54 BACnet objects: 54 analog values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) BACnet points are writable?

9 of the 54 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.

Where is the official AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) BACnet documentation?

The source is AERCO ProtoNode Gateway User Manual (ProtoNode-RER / ProtoNode-LER), GF-129 (OMM-0080_0H), revision 2014-11-06, published free by AERCO at https://www.aerco.com/dfsmedia/0533dbba17714b1ab581ab07a4cbb521/58249-source/637395359810000000/omm-0080-0h-gf-129-protonode-ler-rer-11-06-14.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER)?

Start with AV 33 03-Net Header Set Temp (Plant header setpoint via ACS/BMS II, 40-220 °F); AV 136 03-Req Outlet Temp (Modulex 1 requested outlet temperature); AV 137 04-Net Direct Drive (Modulex 1 modulation command, 0-100 %); AV 141 08-Unit Status (Modulex 1 status: 1 standby, 3 fired, 5 fault); AV 34 04-Header Temp (Header water temperature, °F); AV 139 06-Flow Sens Temp (Modulex 1 flow (outlet) temperature); AV 134 01-Act Mod Lev (Modulex 1 actual modulation, %); AV 1 11-Error Code (Modulex 1 error code and faulted device); AV 36 06-Display Code (ACS/BMS II fault bit field).

How do I enable BMS control of the AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER)?

No start/stop object. The ACS/BMS II takes the plant setpoint from AV 33 when Header Set Mode = Remote Setpt and Remote Signal = Network. Each Modulex has writable 03-Req Outlet Temp and 04-Net Direct Drive values; the manual lists the BCM setup as the same as monitor-only.

Does the AERCO Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER) need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?

The BAS must write the setpoint at least three times within the ACS/BMS II Network Timeout (default 30 s, 5-240 s).

How do I check these points on the real Modulex boilers with BCM and ACS / BMS II (ProtoNode RER)?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
