Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

The Altivar 212 has BACnet MS/TP built in; F829 = 4 selects it on the open-style RS-485 terminals. The fixed list of 48 objects covers relay and logic input status, run/stop, direction and fault reset commands, a % speed reference, three preset speeds, motor monitors, the last three fault codes and a mailbox (MBOX) for reading or writing any drive parameter. BV21/BV22 give BACnet priority over the local reference and command sources.

This page lists 48 BACnet objects for the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) — 20 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Schneider Electric’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP)

Integration in brief

Set F829 = 4 (BACnet), F807 = 1 (open style), the MAC address in F890 and the device instance in F893/F894, then power-cycle. Set CMOd = 2 and FMOd = 4 so BACnet supplies commands and the speed reference, or leave them on terminals and use BV22 CMDSEL / BV21 STPSEL to give BACnet priority. Write BV10 RUN/STOP CMD and AV16 INPUT REF 1 and pick the comm-loss action in F851.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

AV 16INPUT REF 1Speed reference in %Command
BV 14FAULT RESETReset a tripped driveCommand

BV 2FAULT ACTAny active drive faultRead
AV 18LAST FLTWhich fault is activeRead

Enable & remote start

Full BACnet control: CMOd Command mode sel = 2 (Communication) and FMOd Frequency mode sel = 4 (Serial com ref); F207 = 4 does the same for the second reference. Alternatively keep terminal control and turn on BV22 CMDSEL (command priority) and BV21 STPSEL (setpoint priority) to hand commands and the reference to BACnet. The LOC/REM key and logic inputs set to Forced local (48) or Frequency source (38) can take control back locally.

Heartbeat & communication loss

F892 Network time out (20-600 = 2-60 s, default 100 = 10 s) is the trip time once communication has been established. F851 Com. fault setting picks the reaction: 0 ramp to stop and hand control back to CMOd/FMOd, 1 no action (last command continues), 2 ramp stop keeping serial control, 3 freewheel, 4 ramp stop with Err8 Network error fault (default).

Sensors & values from the BMS

The object list has no writable process value; AV10 PRC PID FBCK is read-only. BV23 DAMPER FB lets the BMS supply the damper-open feedback when F580 = 3 or 4.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP)

How many BACnet points does the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) have?

This list has 48 BACnet objects: 3 analog inputs, 1 analog output, 19 analog values, 5 binary inputs, 2 binary outputs, 18 binary values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points are writable?

20 of the 48 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.

Where is the official Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) BACnet documentation?

The source is Altivar 212 BACnet Communication Manual (S1A53845 (04)), revision 2020-07, published free by Schneider Electric at https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_Doc_Ref=S1A53845&p_enDocType=User+guide&p_File_Name=ATV212_BACnet_manual_EN_S1A53845_04.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?

Start with BV 10 RUN/STOP CMD (Start/stop from the BMS); AV 16 INPUT REF 1 (Speed reference in %); BV 14 FAULT RESET (Reset a tripped drive); BV 0 RUN/STOP ACT (Running status); BV 4 HAND/AUTO ACT (Shows if the drive is in Hand); AV 1 OUTPUT FREQ (Output frequency in Hz); AV 4 CURRENT (Motor amps); AV 6 POWER (Motor power in %); BV 2 FAULT ACT (Any active drive fault); AV 18 LAST FLT (Which fault is active).

How do I enable BMS control of the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?

Full BACnet control: CMOd Command mode sel = 2 (Communication) and FMOd Frequency mode sel = 4 (Serial com ref); F207 = 4 does the same for the second reference. Alternatively keep terminal control and turn on BV22 CMDSEL (command priority) and BV21 STPSEL (setpoint priority) to hand commands and the reference to BACnet. The LOC/REM key and logic inputs set to Forced local (48) or Frequency source (38) can take control back locally.

Does the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP) need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?

F892 Network time out (20-600 = 2-60 s, default 100 = 10 s) is the trip time once communication has been established. F851 Com. fault setting picks the reaction: 0 ramp to stop and hand control back to CMOd/FMOd, 1 no action (last command continues), 2 ramp stop keeping serial control, 3 freewheel, 4 ramp stop with Err8 Network error fault (default).

Can the BMS supply sensor values to the Schneider Electric Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?

The object list has no writable process value; AV10 PRC PID FBCK is read-only. BV23 DAMPER FB lets the BMS supply the damper-open feedback when F580 = 3 or 4.

How do I check these points on the real Altivar 212 (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
