A Virtual Input Module is a virtual BACnet IP device behind the Intelli-Hood System Controller with four writable digital inputs and four writable analog inputs. BMS integration notes: Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Virtual Input Module
Configure each virtual input's function and the fans it affects in the Intelli-Hood configuration first. Then write the BVs (e.g. Remote On/Off, Remote Enable/Disable) and AVs from the BMS. Keep BACnet traffic going to the Intelli-Hood, or the watchdog resets all virtual inputs.

Enable & remote start
No separate enable. Each virtual input must be given a function and its affected fans in the Intelli-Hood configuration; unconfigured inputs (the default) do nothing. A Remote Enable/Disable input that is inactive keeps its hood groups' fans off (except on a high-temperature alarm).
Heartbeat & communication loss
BACnet Watchdog on the System Controller, 0-600 s, default 300 s (0 disables). If no BACnet traffic addressed to the Intelli-Hood arrives within that time, all digital and analog inputs on all Virtual Input Modules reset. Any request to the system, including reads, restarts the timer.
Network setup
- The System Controller is the main BACnet IP device (default Device ID 654000) and a virtual router (default DNET 654) for the fan, hood controller and virtual module devices; UDP port 47808.
- With BACnet Auto Number on (default), the virtual devices are numbered from 654001: exhaust fans and auxiliary airflows (sorted by name), then hood controllers, virtual output modules, virtual input modules.
- IP defaults to DHCP. BACnet runs on IPv4 or IPv6, not both; for IPv6 set IP Type to 'IPv4 & IPv6' and BACnet IP Type to IPv6 (multicast scope default ff05).
- Settings are on the Touchpad (System Controller configuration) or the web configurator at http://<controller IP>/ih4-configurator.
- Virtual Input Module Device IDs are shown on the Touchpad under Status > Virtual Input Modules.
Watch out for
- Front ends that send Who-Is without routing only find the System Controller; run a network/router discovery, select the router with the Intelli-Hood DNET, then discover devices again.
- The DNET must be unique; another router or BBMD using 654 breaks access to the virtual devices.
- An input set Out of Service is ignored: the system treats a digital input as inactive and an analog input as 0.
- If inputs keep resetting after a few minutes, the BACnet Watchdog expired; poll more often or lengthen it.

Integration notes
- The analog inputs are numbered AV 1-AV 4 in the PICS (there is no AV 0).
- Digital input functions include Remote On/Off, Remote On, Remote On 100%, Remote Enable/Disable, Remote On/Off with Enable, 50-100% Minimum Speed, External Fault, Lights On/Off and External Alert.
- Remote On/Off and Lights On/Off are edge-triggered; Enable/Disable and Minimum Speed inputs are level-based.
- Analog input modes are Highest, Add or Average with the calculated fan speed, or the Aux. versions that affect auxiliary airflows only.
