Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller BACnet points list
Updated 28 October 2026
A Hood Controller carries up to four hood temperature probes and one set of optics for smoke (effluent) detection. On BACnet IP each one can appear as its own virtual device behind the Intelli-Hood System Controller, with four temperature values in °F and an optics-tripped flag. Hood Controller devices are off by default and must be enabled in the configuration.
This page lists 5 BACnet objects for the Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller — 0 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Melink’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller
Turn on 'Active on BACnet' for each Hood Controller, then read the four probe temperatures and the optics flag. Everything is read-only.
Minimum points to map
The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.
| Object | Name | Why | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| AV 0 | Temperature 1 | Hood probe 1 temperature, °F | Read |
| AV 1 | Temperature 2 | Hood probe 2 temperature, °F | Read |
| AV 2 | Temperature 3 | Hood probe 3 temperature, °F | Read |
| AV 3 | Temperature 4 | Hood probe 4 temperature, °F | Read |
| BV 0 | Optics Tripped | Smoke or optic fault; fans forced to full speed | Read |
Network setup
- The System Controller is the main BACnet IP device (default Device ID 654000) and a virtual router (default DNET 654) for the fan, hood controller and virtual module devices; UDP port 47808.
- With BACnet Auto Number on (default), the virtual devices are numbered from 654001: exhaust fans and auxiliary airflows (sorted by name), then hood controllers, virtual output modules, virtual input modules.
- IP defaults to DHCP. BACnet runs on IPv4 or IPv6, not both; for IPv6 set IP Type to 'IPv4 & IPv6' and BACnet IP Type to IPv6 (multicast scope default ff05).
- Settings are on the Touchpad (System Controller configuration) or the web configurator at http://<controller IP>/ih4-configurator.
- Hood Controller Device IDs are shown on the Touchpad under Status > Hood Controllers.
Watch out for
- Front ends that send Who-Is without routing only find the System Controller; run a network/router discovery, select the router with the Intelli-Hood DNET, then discover devices again.
- The DNET must be unique; another router or BBMD using 654 breaks access to the virtual devices.
- Hood Controllers default to 'Active on BACnet' = No, so they are missing from discovery until enabled.

Integration notes
- Hood Controllers are not on BACnet by default; set 'Active on BACnet' to Yes for each one you want.
- Temperatures are always in °F and update every 30 s.
- Optics Tripped is also active on an optic fault, not only on smoke.
Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Questions about the Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller
How many BACnet points does the Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller have?
This list has 5 BACnet objects: 4 analog values, 1 binary value. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.
Which Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller BACnet points are writable?
None of the listed objects are marked writable in the source documentation.
Where is the official Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller BACnet documentation?
The source is Intelli-Hood BACnet Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS), revision Revision 250723 (PICS dated 07-18-2025), published free by Melink at https://melinkcorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/IH4_BACnet_PICS.pdf.
What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Melink Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller?
Start with AV 0 Temperature 1 (Hood probe 1 temperature, °F); AV 1 Temperature 2 (Hood probe 2 temperature, °F); AV 2 Temperature 3 (Hood probe 3 temperature, °F); AV 3 Temperature 4 (Hood probe 4 temperature, °F); BV 0 Optics Tripped (Smoke or optic fault; fans forced to full speed).
How do I check these points on the real Intelli-Hood IH4 Hood Controller?
Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
