Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points list
Updated 28 October 2026
The Z1000 has BACnet MS/TP built into its RS-485 terminals; set H5-08 = 3 to select it. The fixed object list covers analog and digital I/O, run/fault/reset commands, the frequency and PI setpoint references, output monitors and a long set of fault and status flags. AV29/AV30 give indirect access to any drive parameter by Modbus register number.
This page lists 107 BACnet objects for the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) — 32 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Yaskawa’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP)
Set H5-08 = 3 (BACnet), the MS/TP address in H5-01, the baud rate in H5-02 and the device instance in H5-14/H5-15, then cycle power. Set b1-01 = 2 and b1-02 = 2 so the network supplies the frequency reference and run command. Write BV1 RUN FWD and AV2 Frequency Command, read BV13/BV16 and AV10/AV12/AV13, and reset faults with BV4.
Minimum points to map
The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.
| Object | Name | Why | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| BV 1 | RUN FWD | Start/stop from the BMS (drive) | Command |
| AV 2 | Frequency Command | Frequency reference, units per o1-03 | Command |
| BV 4 | FAULT RESET | Reset a tripped drive | Command |
| BV 13 | RUN-STOP | Running status | Read |
| BV 15 | READY | Drive ready to run | Read |
| AV 10 | Output Frequency | Output frequency, units per o1-03 | Read |
| AV 12 | Output Current | Motor amps | Read |
| AV 13 | Output Power | Drive power in kW | Read |
| BV 16 | FAULT | Any active drive fault | Read |
| AV 7 | Fault Details (Bitmapped) | Bit-coded active fault flags | Read |
Enable & remote start
Table B.1: set b1-01 Frequency Reference Selection 1 = 2 and b1-02 Run Command Selection 1 = 2 (serial communication); b1-15/b1-16 = 2 do the same for External Reference 2. With H5-12 = 0 (default) BV1 runs forward and BV2 runs reverse; with H5-12 = 1 bit 0 is run/stop and bit 1 sets direction. Monitoring, parameter access, fault set/reset and the multi-function inputs work at any time, whatever b1-01/b1-02 are set to.
Heartbeat & communication loss
H5-05 = 1 (default) turns on CE detection: if the drive gets no data from the master for H5-09 (0.0-10.0 s, default 2.0 s) it raises a CE fault and acts per H5-04 (0 ramp to stop, 1 coast, 2 fast stop, 3 alarm only and keep running (default), 4 run at d1-04).
Sensors & values from the BMS
AV3 PI Setpoint lets the BMS write the PI setpoint; BO4 Ref Sel: PI Setpoint (or AV5 bit 1) selects it. The object list has no writable PI feedback.
Network setup
- H5-08 = 3 selects BACnet; H5-01 is the MS/TP address (0-FFH, default 1FH) and must be unique.
- H5-02 sets the baud rate, 1200 to 76800 bps (BACnet default is setting 3 = 9600 bps); 115200 bps gives an oPE29 error.
- H5-03 sets parity (default none); data is 8 bits with 1 stop bit.
- Device instance = H5-14 (low word) + H5-15 (high word), in hex; default 1. Example: 1234 is H5-14 = 4D2H, H5-15 = 0.
- H5 settings and the device instance take effect after a power cycle.
- Up to 127 drives per MS/TP segment.
Watch out for
- H5-04 defaults to Alarm Only, so the drive keeps running when BACnet traffic stops.
- BV56 Parameter Enter writes EEPROM (rated about 100,000 writes); don't use it cyclically.
- Don't mix the packed words (AV1, AV4, AV5) with the single-bit BV/BO objects they duplicate.
- Terminal inputs and BACnet multi-function inputs are ORed together.
- Frequency objects use the o1-03 display units, which are not always Hz.

Integration notes
- Object IDs marked Not used (AI3-AI5, AV24) are left out. AV15-AV17 (MF Input Status, Drive Status 2, MF Output Status) are named in the table but have no register, units or access, so they are left out too.
- AV1, AV4 and AV5 are packed command words; the manual says not to use them together with the single-bit objects they duplicate (AV1 with BV1-BV11 or AV5, AV4 with BO1-BO3 or BV12, AV5 with AV1, BO4 or BV9-BV11).
- Frequency units follow the o1-03 display setting.
- AV29/AV30 with BV55/BV56 read and write drive parameters that are not in the object list.
- The device object name is writable from BACnet (20 characters) and takes effect after a power cycle.
- Each description gives the drive's Modbus register where the manual lists one.
Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. Questions about the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP)
How many BACnet points does the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) have?
This list has 107 BACnet objects: 6 analog inputs, 2 analog outputs, 26 analog values, 9 binary inputs, 7 binary outputs, 57 binary values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.
Which Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points are writable?
32 of the 107 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.
Where is the official Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) BACnet documentation?
The source is YASKAWA AC Drive Z1000, AC Drive for HVAC Fan and Pump, Programming Manual (Appendix B, BACnet Communications) (SIEP C710616 45F), revision 2021-06, published free by Yaskawa at https://www.yaskawa.com/delegate/getAttachment?documentId=SIEPC71061645&cmd=documents&documentName=SIEPC71061645.pdf.
What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?
Start with BV 1 RUN FWD (Start/stop from the BMS (drive)); AV 2 Frequency Command (Frequency reference, units per o1-03); BV 4 FAULT RESET (Reset a tripped drive); BV 13 RUN-STOP (Running status); BV 15 READY (Drive ready to run); AV 10 Output Frequency (Output frequency, units per o1-03); AV 12 Output Current (Motor amps); AV 13 Output Power (Drive power in kW); BV 16 FAULT (Any active drive fault); AV 7 Fault Details (Bitmapped) (Bit-coded active fault flags).
How do I enable BMS control of the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?
Table B.1: set b1-01 Frequency Reference Selection 1 = 2 and b1-02 Run Command Selection 1 = 2 (serial communication); b1-15/b1-16 = 2 do the same for External Reference 2. With H5-12 = 0 (default) BV1 runs forward and BV2 runs reverse; with H5-12 = 1 bit 0 is run/stop and bit 1 sets direction. Monitoring, parameter access, fault set/reset and the multi-function inputs work at any time, whatever b1-01/b1-02 are set to.
Does the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP) need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?
H5-05 = 1 (default) turns on CE detection: if the drive gets no data from the master for H5-09 (0.0-10.0 s, default 2.0 s) it raises a CE fault and acts per H5-04 (0 ramp to stop, 1 coast, 2 fast stop, 3 alarm only and keep running (default), 4 run at d1-04).
Can the BMS supply sensor values to the Yaskawa Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?
AV3 PI Setpoint lets the BMS write the PI setpoint; BO4 Ref Sel: PI Setpoint (or AV5 bit 1) selects it. The object list has no writable PI feedback.
How do I check these points on the real Z1000 HVAC drive (embedded BACnet MS/TP)?
Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
