Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points list
Updated 28 October 2026
The Lenze i500 inverter talks BACnet MS/TP directly. Its PICS lists 77 fixed objects: 16 binary values that trigger the drive's mappable network functions (run forward, quick stop, reset and so on), status bits from the drive status word, a frequency setpoint and readings as analog values, and a mailbox for reading and writing any drive parameter.
This page lists 77 BACnet objects for the Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP) — 34 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Lenze’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP)
Use AV 9 Network Control to hand control to BACnet, write the frequency setpoint to AV 0 and run with BV 4 Run forward (default mapping). Read BV 22 running, AV 13 frequency, AV 17 current and BV 20 fault, and reset with BV 7. Check the 0x400E mapping on site, since BV 0-15 can be remapped.
Minimum points to map
The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.
| Object | Name | Why | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| BV 4 | Run forward | Run command (default mapping) | Command |
| AV 9 | Network Control | Activates network control (0x2631:037) | Command |
| AV 0 | Net.freq 0.01 | Frequency setpoint in 0.01 Hz | Command |
| BV 7 | Reset error | Reset a tripped drive (default mapping) | Command |
| BV 22 | E:Running Forward | Running forward status | Read |
| BV 25 | E:Control from Network | Drive is under network control | Read |
| AV 13 | Frequency 0.01 | Actual output frequency | Read |
| AV 17 | Motor Current | Motor amps | Read |
| BV 20 | E:Faulted/Trip | Any active drive fault | Read |
| AV 14 | Error Code | Active error code | Read |
Enable & remote start
AV 9 Network Control (0x2631:037) activates network control and AV 8 sets the default setpoint source (0x2860:001); BV 25 and BV 26 show when network control and the network setpoint are active. The PICS gives no values for AV 8 or AV 9; see the i500 manual.
Sensors & values from the BMS
AV 1 PID Setpoint takes a network PID setpoint (in the PID unit) when the drive's process controller is used.
Network setup
- MS/TP baud rates 9600 to 115200 are listed in the PICS.
- ReinitializeDevice needs a password.
- Set the 0x400E function mapping before configuring the BMS, so the BV 0-15 names stay accurate.
Watch out for
- BV 0-15 meanings depend on parameters 0x400E:001-016; the defaults are shown.
- AV 10 Save Parameters writes the drive's memory; don't write it cyclically.
- AI 1 name says AI1 but reads terminal AI2.

Integration notes
- BV 0-15 trigger whatever functions drive parameters 0x400E:001-016 are mapped to; names and descriptions are the factory defaults and don't update if the mapping is changed later.
- Changing the BV 0-15 mapping raises the device's database revision.
- AI 1 is printed with the name 'AI1 terminal %' but reads terminal AI2.
- Access 'R/W/C' is shown as commandable and 'R/E' (event notification) as read-only.
- AV 29/30 and BV 36/37 are user objects; access and units depend on the parameter mapped into them.
- Units for AV 0 are printed as 0.01Hz; AV 13 is listed in Hertz but read from a 0.01 Hz parameter.
Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP) and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.
Questions about the Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP)
How many BACnet points does the Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP) have?
This list has 77 BACnet objects: 2 analog inputs, 1 analog output, 31 analog values, 5 binary inputs, 38 binary values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.
Which Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP) BACnet points are writable?
34 of the 77 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.
Where is the official Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP) BACnet documentation?
The source is Lenze i500 BACnet Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS V01.04), revision 2018-04-23, published free by Lenze at https://www.bacnetinternational.net/catalog/manu/lenze%20americas/lenze_i500_bacnet_pics_v01_04.pdf.
What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP)?
Start with BV 4 Run forward (Run command (default mapping)); AV 9 Network Control (Activates network control (0x2631:037)); AV 0 Net.freq 0.01 (Frequency setpoint in 0.01 Hz); BV 7 Reset error (Reset a tripped drive (default mapping)); BV 22 E:Running Forward (Running forward status); BV 25 E:Control from Network (Drive is under network control); AV 13 Frequency 0.01 (Actual output frequency); AV 17 Motor Current (Motor amps); BV 20 E:Faulted/Trip (Any active drive fault); AV 14 Error Code (Active error code).
How do I enable BMS control of the Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP)?
AV 9 Network Control (0x2631:037) activates network control and AV 8 sets the default setpoint source (0x2860:001); BV 25 and BV 26 show when network control and the network setpoint are active. The PICS gives no values for AV 8 or AV 9; see the i500 manual.
Can the BMS supply sensor values to the Lenze i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP)?
AV 1 PID Setpoint takes a network PID setpoint (in the PID unit) when the drive's process controller is used.
How do I check these points on the real i500 inverter (BACnet MS/TP)?
Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
