Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

The ProtoNode reads the OmniTherm control over Modbus RTU and serves 121 objects per unit. Analog inputs cover temperatures, flame signal, 0-10 V inputs and outputs, firing rate, lockout and alarm codes, burner status, history counters and cascade lead/lag states; binary inputs break out the safety chain and output bits. Writable AVs and BVs hold the CH1, CH2, DHW and cascade enables, set points and PID terms plus three demand switches.

This page lists 121 BACnet objects for the Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode — 28 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Laars’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode

Integration in brief

Enable CH1 with AV 0, set BV 1 CH 1 Demand switch for a call for heat and write the CH1 set point (or the cascade CH set point for a cascade). Read the run contact, Burner Status 2, outlet temperature and firing rate, and watch the alarm contact and lockout code.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

Type: AI, AO, AV, BI, BO, BV, MI/MO/MV (multi-state) · Access: Read read-only, Write writable, Command writable with a priority array.

Note: the source document has no read/write column, so access here is inferred from the object type (inputs read-only, values writable). Confirm on the live controller before writing.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the OmniTherm - ProtoNode and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode

How many BACnet points does the Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode have?

This list has 121 BACnet objects: 72 analog inputs, 25 analog values, 21 binary inputs, 3 binary values. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode BACnet points are writable?

28 of the 121 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done. The source has no read/write column, so this is inferred from object type.

Where is the official Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode BACnet documentation?

The source is Vendor Protocol Mapping (LAARS Vendor Mappings for the ProtoNode FPC-N34 / FPC-N35) (4404), revision Document Revision 14.B, October 2020, published free by Laars at https://www.laars.com/uploads/products/4404.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode?

Start with AV 0 CH1 Enable/Disable (CH1 enable (1 = enable)); BV 1 CH 1 Demand switch (CH1 call for heat (1 = heat demand)); AV 1 CH1 Set Point (CH1 water set point); AV 27 Cascade CH Set Point (Set point when units run in cascade); BI 11 Digital Output Status - Run contact (Run output); AI 85 Burner Status 2 (Burner state; 51 = firing, 1 = locked out); AI 1 Outlet sensor (Outlet water temperature); AI 33 Modulating Burner1 Firing rate (Burner 1 firing rate); BI 12 Digital Output Status - Alarm Contact (Alarm output); AI 35 Lockout code (Lockout code (0-29)).

How do I enable BMS control of the Laars OmniTherm - ProtoNode?

AV 0 CH1 Enable/Disable (0 = disable, 1 = enable) and BV 1 CH 1 Demand switch (0 = no heat demand, 1 = heat demand). CH2 and DHW have matching objects.

How do I check these points on the real OmniTherm - ProtoNode?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
