Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 BACnet points list

Updated 28 October 2026

Short answer

The MCA 125 is a plug-in option that puts a VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 on BACnet IP. It publishes the drive's I/O, speed, power, alarm words and control bits as fixed objects, plus 30 user-mappable custom AV objects (AV:102 to AV:131) set in parameter 8-77. Many objects only respond when the matching I/O option (MCB 101/109/113/114/115) or a CBM license is present.

This page lists 250 BACnet objects for the Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 — 132 of them writable — with each object’s type, instance number, name, engineering units and access. It is re-typed from Danfoss’s own free documentation, linked below.

BMS integration notes: Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125

Integration in brief

Give the drive a unique instance in 8-70 and an IP address in 12-0*, then write BV:1 RUN/STOP command and AV:1 Input reference 1 (%). Read BV:4 RUN/STOP monitor, BV:5 OK/FAULT monitor and AV:0/AV:5/AV:6 for speed, current and power, and use BV:3 to reset trips. Set 8-03/8-04 so the drive goes to a known state if the BMS stops writing.

Minimum points to map

The short list most integrators start with — enough to run the unit from a BMS. Map more as the job needs.

AV 1Input reference 1Speed reference in %; writes also restart the 8-03 timeoutCommand
BV 3Fault reset commandReset a tripped driveWrite

Heartbeat & communication loss

Parameter 8-03 Control Timeout Time (0.5-18000 s, factory 60.0 s) restarts on every write to any AO, AV 1/2/31, BV 1/2/25/26/27 or MSV 1. If the BMS stops writing for longer than that, the drive raises alarm 17 Ctrl.word TO and does whatever 8-04 Control Timeout Function selects (factory Off; options include stop and trip or max speed). 8-05 End-of-Timeout Function (factory Resume setup) sets what happens when writes resume. Danfoss suggests about 3 writes per timeout window.

Sensors & values from the BMS

The BMS can write the PID feedback to AV:31 Bus feedback 1 (parameter 8-94) and the PID setpoint to AV:30 Setpoint 1 (parameter 20-21). Writing AV:31 also restarts the control timeout.

Integration notes

Check it against the live device. A points list tells you what the controller can expose; the unit in front of you may differ by firmware or installed options. Easy BACnet scans a network for BACnet IP devices from an Android phone, reads every object on the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 and exports what it actually has to Excel — free. New to BACnet? Start with what a BACnet points list is and what the object types mean.

Questions about the Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125

How many BACnet points does the Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 have?

This list has 250 BACnet objects: 18 analog inputs, 12 analog outputs, 104 analog values, 17 binary inputs, 16 binary outputs, 28 binary values, 6 calendars, 1 loop, 7 notification classs, 6 schedules, 13 multi-state values, 7 trend logs, 15 others. The exact set on a given unit depends on its firmware, installed options and configuration.

Which Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 BACnet points are writable?

132 of the 250 objects accept a write. Points marked Command have a priority array: a write holds until it is released, so release it back to automatic when you are done.

Where is the official Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 BACnet documentation?

The source is VLT BACnet/IP MCA 125 Programming Guide (VLT HVAC Drive FC 102, VLT AQUA Drive FC 202) (AU361182716349en-000201 (130R0673)), revision 2025-12, published free by Danfoss at https://assets.danfoss.com/documents/562086/AU361182716349en-000201.pdf.

What are the minimum BACnet points to integrate the Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125?

Start with BV 1 RUN/STOP command (Start/stop from the BMS); AV 1 Input reference 1 (Speed reference in %; writes also restart the 8-03 timeout); BV 3 Fault reset command (Reset a tripped drive); BV 4 RUN/STOP monitor (Running status); BV 6 HAND/AUTO reference (Shows if the drive is in Hand); AV 0 Speed act value (Actual speed feedback); AV 5 Motor current (Motor amps); AV 6 Power (Drive power in kW); BV 5 OK/FAULT monitor (Any active drive fault); AV 61 Alarm word 1 (Alarm detail for troubleshooting).

Does the Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125 need a BACnet heartbeat or have a communication timeout?

Can the BMS supply sensor values to the Danfoss VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125?

The BMS can write the PID feedback to AV:31 Bus feedback 1 (parameter 8-94) and the PID setpoint to AV:30 Setpoint 1 (parameter 20-21). Writing AV:31 also restarts the control timeout.

How do I check these points on the real VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 with BACnet/IP MCA 125?

Scan the network with a BACnet IP browser such as Easy BACnet, open the device and compare its object list with this table. Anything missing is usually an option that isn't installed or a point that is disabled in the controller's configuration.
